Aswathy, a textiles shop employee, is staying with her bedridden and sick mother. She looks after the family with her meager salary. Kartika is a girl who is bestowed upon lots of love and affection by her parents. Her life zooms into a crisis when she comes to know of the secrets of her father s profession. The third girl, Rohini, lives in luxury and has tremendously rich parents. But the uneasiness and unhappiness in the family atmosphere makes her very very sad. She elopes with her very poor lover. Pandiya is a young man who leads a troubled life. He is continuously being chased by Marudhu (a look-alike of him) and Marudhu's boss Kabali, who would be given a lot of money if they killed Pandiya. Mahendra Prasad lives a very wealthy lifestyle along with his daughter, Kiran, in a palatial house. Ramesh (Jeetendra) starts managing the office of an industrialist who strongly suspects his relatives to be looting him. Ramesh finds the culprit and keeps a tight leash on everything happening in the office, thereby earning the wrath of the industrialist's relatives. Ramesh and Nisha (the industrialist's daughter Jaya Prada) initially find themselves at loggerheads, but eventually, fall in love with each other. The industrialist is murdered and Jaya Prada also sees Ramesh in her house that same night. Ramesh is dragged to court and is shortly framed for murder.
