Omkara or Omi is a gifted chieftain who heads a gang of outlaws, which include the crafty Langda Tyagi and the dynamic Kesu amongst his chief cohorts. When Omi appoints Kesu and not Langda as his chief lieutenant, Langda's pride is slighted. Raging with envy, he hatches a plot to falsely implicate Omi's beautiful fiancee Dolly, in an illicit affair with Omi's favourite lieutenant, Kesu. The film centers around the murder investigation of an actor who drops dead on stage in front of a live audience. However, the investigation is led by a police officer, Banerjee, who seems more distracted by his prejudices towards the suspects rather than the merits of the case. The murder in the film takes place during the staging of a play called A Perfect Relationship. The play is an official Indian adaptation of Doric Wilson s play. Sameer Thakur, who plays Surya in the film, has co-written the adaptation along with Arushi Singh, who plays Ivana Grewal in the film. In the crowded bylanes of Old Delhi, Shuklaji runs a small photo studio as a facade for a small-time crime. Venkatachalam (Sarath Babu) and Indumathi (Sumithra) are siblings. Indumathi hates men and she is adamant that she will never get married. Sanjeevi (Kamal) is a friend of Venkatachalam and often visits his house. Sanjeevi likes Indumathi's attitude and starts teasing her many times, they often quarrel as well. Sanjeevi provides Thilagam with lodging and requests Kasi to stay with her and look after her. Thilagam delivers a child.
