Prem Shankar is the son of a rich businessman whose parents want him to marry in a rich family. Prem loves a gypsy girl Dulari (who was kidnapped by gypsies in her childhood) but her father orders him not to marry her. Prem, however, disagrees and leaves the house to marry Dulari. He brings Dulari to his other house to marry. The gypsy Sardar's son also wants to marry her and kidnaps her again. He also loots Dulari's real father and ties him to his backyard. Another gypsy woman Kasturi (Geeta Bali) gets to know Dulari's truth and frees her father. Prem after fighting frees Dulari again. His mother brings both back homes, but his father refuses to bless them. Another gypsy, who knows Dulari's truth and has her childhood photo comes to Prem's house. The film sheds light on the story of Aleena (Asha Jayaram), a widow and her four-year-old daughter Deepamol (Geethu Mohandas). Though Aleena was on the fence and skeptical of the man's intentions, she eventually falls in love. Telephone uncle resists the coercions from the mother and never reveals his name or whereabouts. The film is set in a slum in Ernakulam and focusses on a group of slum dwellers who are usually ignored in the ambitious blueprints of city developers. The protagonist of the film, Chakrapani (Sreenivasan), is a disabled beggar and also a small-time moneylender who lives in the slum. A drunkard, he spends most of the time quarrelling with his mother. He has an eye on Latha (Geethu Mohandas) who lives nearby with her two children, Siva and Malli, though she detests him. Latha, an asthmatic, works as a maid and dreams of a better future for her children. Another woman Vasanthi (Seema G. Nair) too lives in the slum with her two children and a drunkard of a husband (Manikandan) who is of no use to anybody and who keeps causing endless trouble to her and her children. Finally, desperation forces Chakrapani and Latha to unite and raise their voice in protest again the ignorance towards their slum. Chakrapani ends up as their leader. The story reaches its climax when the government takes steps to get rid of the slum in order to go on with developmental activities and the slum-dwellers find that they have nowhere to go. A JCB arrives on the scene and the local people protest as a union with Chakrapani in the forefront. But their pleas fall on deaf ears. more»

Anand Narayan comes from a poor family, which consists of his wife, Gayatri, daughter, Kamla and two sons Madhu and Govind. Through hard work, Anand starts on his way to success. He meets with Nekiram, who becomes his business partner and also his samdhi (in-law) as his daughter is in love with Madhu. Both get married in a simple ceremony. After this marriage, both Nekiram and Anand and his family work hard at preparing food in a small sweet shop. Lord Krishna then appears to Anand who asks the Lord for material success. After this meeting Anand's Dhaba grows into a restaurant, then a larger fancier restaurant, finally a five star hotel. Now Anand and his family are all wealthy and live in a palatial home. Bhagwan Shri Krishna regularly visits him and asks about him and his family. Anand proudly takes all the credit and asks Krishna to accompany him to see his success and his hotel. Bhagwan Krishna declines, but agrees to do so later. Things don't go quite as well for Anand, when he finds out that Nekiram has been cheating him. Nekiram leaves the house, but Madhu accompanies him. Then Anand finds that Govind has been squandering money and time on women and alcohol and to top his disappointment Kamla gets pregnant. When Bhagwan Krishna comes to visit Anand again, he admits that he is a failure, his health is poor, and his family are all strangers to him. Lord Krishna advises Anand that this is his life and he must learn from the Mahabharata and that every life is a struggle, which is confused by relations and near and dear ones and also by one's ego. Once the ego is removed, then only one can see clearly. But will Anand be able to understand and carry out what Lord Krishna is asking him to? Or will end up taking the blame, like he took the credit, upon himself? more»
