Sachin Madhavan (Fahadh Faasil) comes to a hill station where he meets a girl Sushma (Nikitha) and it is love at first sight. Later he comes to know that she stays with her aunt and comes from a broken family. Her father (Siddique) and mother (Revathy) are said to be separated and living abroad. They want to legally get divorced after their only daughter gets married. Sachin loves her deeply but never reveals his feeling, as he comes to know that her parents have fixed her marriage. Both become great friends and they share a very special relationship till Sushmas mother arrives from Kuwait for her engagement. Sushma, however, agrees for the marriage provided her father to comes for the function. But her overprotective mother assumes that she is in love with Sachin and provokes her to tell a lie that she loves Sachin. She convinces Sachin also to tell the same lie and help her unite her parents. They run away with the help of Sachin's friends and stay somewhere away from home. Slowly Sushma too starts falling in love with Sachin. One day, an advocate Gopi (Mammootty) comes to see them and agrees to help them. He tells Sachin the truth that Sushmas father is dying of some bone marrow disease and his last wish is to see his daughter married to the guy whom he has selected. So he hands over Sushma to her mother. The story is told in a flashback when Sachin is on his way to attend his lovers marriage as he tells his past to the co-passengers on a ferryboat who gets hooked on to his love story. What happens at the marriage forms the interesting twist in this love story.

Chitra Narayan (Simran), a political journalist with Observer Daily in Delhi, is in love with Kiran Verma (Akshay Anand), a budding actor. She intrudes into the illegal affairs of Paul B. Issac (Devan), a Delhi-based politician. Paul B. Issac commits a murder and gets actor Kiran's face morphed onto his body in the video, whereby he traps him for the crime. Kiran is jailed under the charge of murder. Chitra gets the video tape, and she smells foul and tries to reveal the truth behind the morphing of images. She is followed by the goons of Paul. Chitra reaches Banglore, but the goons reach there after her. She is saved by Sathish Menon (Mammootty), a computer expert. He becomes her savior. After watching the video, Satish realizes the truth behind the crime and decides to expose Paul B. Issac. Meanwhile, Kiran is killed. Satish's software company suffers huge setbacks, after the illegal influence of Paul, causing huge losses. Satish openly begins his battle for justice for Chitra.

Aravindan(Nedumudi Venu) is an assistant manager in a tea plantation in Munnar. He lives with his wife Janu (Saritha) and three daughters. They follow a happy life until he comes to know that he is affected by lung cancer. The doctor suggests him to move to Tata Institute for further treatment. He informs Mammukka (Thilakan) about the same and leaves for Bombay lying to his family that he has been promoted to a manager. Meanwhile, Dr. Surendran(Mammootty) shifts to Munnar as the family's new neighbor. The youngest daughter of the family, Rajani (Meena) acquaints with him and introduces him to her mother. The flashback shows a romantic relationship between Surendran and Janu where their marriage was fixed. Surendran meets with an accident and becomes impotent. He convinces Janu to leave him and marry someone else. The present life shows how Surendran becomes closer to the family. Rajini suffers from a heart problem and Dr. Surendran becomes a helping hand for the treatment. Aravindan's health worsens in Bombay and he asks Mammukka to inform his wife about his ill health. Aravindan has a helping hand called Shankhu (T.G. Ravi) in the hospital. Aravindan dies in the presence of Janu in the hospital. Shankhu threatens Janu about informing the kids about their father's death which could cause Rajini, the girl with the weak heart to die. Janu comes back to Munnar and pretends that Aravindan is recovering and does not tell her kids about the death. Shankhu visits her now and again blackmailing for gold and money. As the last sort, he takes away Janu's marital gold chain and threatens to return it back only if he is given ten thousand rupees. Surendran knowing all truth about Janu comes to her rescue and beats up Shankhu. He surrenders to the police saying that he murdered Shankhu. Hearing the news Rajini becomes unconscious. The court leaves Surendran on bail to operate Rajani. After he returns, he is been sent out jail as the police receive a complain that Surendran is innocent. Janu confesses to the CBI, who is now handling the case, that she had murdered Shankhu. She had done so because Shankhu had tried to rape her and to save herself she does so. Police arrest her, but the court leaves her considering her circumstances for the crime. The movie ends on a happy note.

Kaimal and Susheela are leading a troubled married life. Susheela, a mother of two children, indulges in a physical relation with a car mechanic named Giri. On an unfortunate day, she elopes with Giri to start a new life. After the incident, Kaimal is harassed by many of his friends and colleagues. Balan, a friend of Kaimal, helps him to get a relief. Balan tries to bring back Susheela, who was still having an unsatisfied life with Giri, to Kaimal's life. He arranges a meeting between Susheela and Kaimal in a beach. But, they found Kaimal dead after being stabbed by himself with a knife. K.G George finely portrays the human psychological trauma in this film."

Madhavan (Mammootty), a simple village man who in childhood got bitten by the film bug, threw up his studies and finally ends up as 'Operator' Madhavan, who tours the countryside with his 16 mm projector and shows films at temple festivals and other public functions. Madhavan's family consist of his wife (Padmapriya) and a daughter (Sanusha). (Innocent) enacts the role of a priest. Madhavan comes across a six-year-old boy (Yash) who is displaced from his native Gujarat and separated from his family after the devastating earthquake. This boy was taken into a gang of beggars from where he manages to escape. Madhavan takes the boy home and cares for him, just like a son. He and his Family takes a fondness for the boy, later finding out that legally he cannot adopt the boy. The boy is taken away from Madhavan to a juvenile home and allegations of ill treatment is charged on Madhavan, but soon dismissed. The issue gets media coverage. Madhavan then goes to Gujarat with the boy in hopes of finding his family or adopting him. At the disaster camp in Gujarat Madhavan understands that the boys relatives are all most probably dead but due to legal hurdles, the boy must stay on in the hope that his real parents might be traced. Madhavan dejected has to return to his family in Kerala.

The film gets its title from Mammootty's character's role Johnnie Varghese. He has a brother Bobby Varghese who studies in Bangalore degree college for Economics. A visit from his brother and friends changes Johnnie's mind and he joins college despite of his age. From there he clashes with Swamy who rules the college with his drug gang. Because of his love towards his brother Bobby, Johnnie joins to his college as a student and starts living together. Soon he became the hero of the college as well as rival to Saamy and his gang. Bobby falls in love with his classmate Chandini, who was a depressed girl, as she was an adopted child to her parents. Chandini was addicted to drugs by Saamy and was hospitalised. Johnnie suffers from eye sight problems and realizes that he will soon lose his sight completely. Because of this he wants to see Bobbie's marriage and pleads to Chandini's parents for the same. At last they agrees after hearing his story. On the night of the marriage Bobbie is killed by Saamy and his gang. When Johnnie comes to know about his brother's death, he rushes towards Saamy and Didi, the leader of the gang and kills them. In the end Johnnie loses his sight completely and meets with an accident and dies.

"Balachandran (Mammootty) had resorted to his work after being unable to cope up with the death of his wife, Bhama (Shobhana). During the process, he unintentionally neglects his only son, Appu (Badusha). When Appu returns home from his boarding school during vacation, Balachandran promises him a lot many things, but is unable to fulfill any of them as he is caught up with work. Meanwhile, Appu befriends his carer Meenakshi (Seena Dadi), much to the annoyance of Balachandran. Meenakshi's half-brother Rudran, after realizing that his sister stays with Balachandran (who fired him for the murder of a colleague), forcefully takes her home. Appu becomes disappointed and turn rebellious, which culminates in Balachandran hitting him. He now realize that Bhama's death was tough on his son too. He apologize and promises to bring back Meenakshi. At Meenakshi's house, her brother objects to Balachandran's request of taking her back and he see the way she is mistreated by her brother, leading to a fight between them where Appu gets caught up. The attempt fails and they retreat to their summer house, deciding to let go of the thoughts of Meenakshi. Appu now gets to spend more time with his father as he had always hoped, although he miss Meenakshi. Balachandran notices that Appu's nose is lightly bleeding and take him to his close friend, Dr. Gopan (Suresh Gopi). Gopan find a serious internal haemorrhage in Appu's head, the cause of which remains a mystery. He informs that an urgent surgery is their only hope and his Professor, a famous neurosurgeon had been called from Mumbai for the surgery. The unresolved cause of the bleeding puzzle the doctors. Balachandran soon recollects the fight and recall Rudran being the one responsible for Appu's condition. Enraged by the thought, he rush to seek revenge, but is stopped by Gopan by shouting that if he really loves his son, stay with him till the operation, take care of him and pray for him. The depth of his ignorance to his son, now becomes even more clear to him. Realizing that this was probably the only time left with his son, he take him out as he had promised, to fulfill Appu's wish, on the eve of the scheduled operation. He even prays hoping that God would have pity upon him. Their journey takes them to Meenakshi's house, who is to be married against her wishes. Another fight happens between the two and he manage to free Meenakshi from her abusive brother. He take her with them for one final trip where Appu (moderately under sedation) hallucinates his mother approaching him to take him to the other side. However, when Bhama notices Balachandran and Meenakshi together, she realizes that it is their chance to start a new family and walks away, implying the likelihood of Appu's survival."
