The film gets its title from Mammootty's character's role Johnnie Varghese. He has a brother Bobby Varghese who studies in Bangalore degree college for Economics. A visit from his brother and friends changes Johnnie's mind and he joins college despite of his age. From there he clashes with Swamy who rules the college with his drug gang. Because of his love towards his brother Bobby, Johnnie joins to his college as a student and starts living together. Soon he became the hero of the college as well as rival to Saamy and his gang. Bobby falls in love with his classmate Chandini, who was a depressed girl, as she was an adopted child to her parents. Chandini was addicted to drugs by Saamy and was hospitalised. Johnnie suffers from eye sight problems and realizes that he will soon lose his sight completely. Because of this he wants to see Bobbie's marriage and pleads to Chandini's parents for the same. At last they agrees after hearing his story. On the night of the marriage Bobbie is killed by Saamy and his gang. When Johnnie comes to know about his brother's death, he rushes towards Saamy and Didi, the leader of the gang and kills them. In the end Johnnie loses his sight completely and meets with an accident and dies. more»

The story takes place in a hillside village, terrorised by the frequent attacks of a man-eating leopard. Tired of waiting for help from the authorities, the villagers under Reverend Father Panangodan (Thilakan) and Philipose Muthalali (Jagannatha Varma) decide to hire a hunter. The hunter whom they wanted had recently died, so his son Varunni (Mammootty) is summoned to the village. The uncultured life of Varunni soon became a headache for the village. The villagers try to avoid the drunkard hunter from their lives. However, a women named Bhagyalakshmi (Sunitha) (whose mother was killed by the leopard) befriends Varunni. This relation makes Thomaskutty (Mahesh), who is in love with Bhagyalakshmi, jealous. Seeing Varunni talking to Bhagyalakshmi, Thomaskutty gets angry and starts fighting with the hunter. In the fight Thomaskutty accidentally slips and falls from the top of the cliff. Varunni feels responsible for the death of Thomaskutty and confesses secretly to Reverend Father Panangodan. Father Panangodan realises the big heart inside the hunter. He decides to protect Varunni despite the objections from the villagers and arranges a livelihood for him. Varunni gradually starts to help the villagers and the family of Thomaskutty. The villagers also develop a soft corner for the hunter. Meanwhile, the leopard again comes to the village and Varunni fails to kill it. The leopard escapes with a wound. The preparations of the betrothal of Thomaskutty's sister Annamma (Urvashi) is going on. But the groom fails to show up at the function. At the directions of Father Panangodan, Varunni decides to marry Annamma. This makes Bhagyalakshmi, who was in love with Varunni, jealous. On the eve of the wedding, she informs Annamma that Varunni had killed her brother Thomaskutty. Varunni gets exposed on the wedding day and flees to his hut. On reaching the hut, Varunni finds his dog barking alarmingly. He concludes that the dog has rabies and kills it. Soon he spots the leopard at the top of his hut and realizes that his dog was actually signalling about the leopard. He manages to kill the leopard with an axe. The villagers celebrate the death of the leopard. However, the police soon arrives and arrests Varunni for murdering Thomaskutty. more»

Seth Jamna Das's (Raj Mehra) only college-going daughter Sapna (Rakhee) is involved with poor Shyam (Manoj Kumar). Failing to persuade her, and prevail upon her to marry DIG Gopal Das's (Prem Nath) only son, Deepak (Prem Chopra) he agrees to marry off the lovers. But on the night of marriage Shyam is not only accused of a safe break but also death of Kamini (Snehlata), and forced to join the criminals in a spate of robberies after one of which there is a showdown between him and the rest, and he manages to escape and lands in a town where he saves a young girl, Meena (Nazima) from a group of hooligans, who then forces him to come to her house for first aid treatment. Meena is the daughter of an honest cop, Constable Ram Singh (Pran) who instantly adopts him (now called Mohan) as his son. Notwithstanding continuity jerks; now all actions (murders, rapes, gold smuggling) and characters find themselves in the same town. And the lecherous Deepak in partnership with Jamna Das is the kingpin of all unlawful activities even though DIG Gopal Das is honesty personified. In the swiftly changing scenario, the old lovers get reunited, songs and dances in flashback follow, Shyam/Mohan finds out Kamini is alive, after some fisticuffs he is arrested, Ram Singh gets promoted as Sub-Inspector, but in a chase to prevent Deepak/Jamna Das's consignment with gold he falls prey to the former's bullet. DIG Gopal Das gets him cremated with full honors, vowing to get the culprit booked. Jamna Das agrees to marry off Sapna to Deepak to consolidate his nefarious activities but Shyam/Mohan spoils the party leading to a showdown between the partners. Not only that, he also convinces the DIG about his son's doing, how he had been hoodwinked into the aiding them, and brings him to the scene of action where the party is in a confessional mode. Vishnu (Mammootty)is a rich businessman, happily married to innocent Seetha (Saritha). Vishnu is a flirt and always interested in having affairs with multiple partners. However, most of his plans did always become unsuccessful. He pretends to love Ragini(Shyama) and assures her to marry her. But his intentions are different. He starts having affair with a young and beautiful Revathi (Lizy Priyadarshan). He also gets infatuated by the newly appointed steno Rose Mary (Urvashi) at his office. But every time, he fails to reach his target. He is so lascivious and a womanizer who even gets attracted to a teenage girl (Suma Jayaram). The situation gets worsened after he joins a team with Thomas Chacko (Thilakan) and Murali. Murali introduces Vishnu to a new girl Indhu (Maathu) who is an orphan. Indu is childlike and innocent and she blindly believes Murali. She went off with Vishnu to his house. Vishnu, eagerly waiting for a sexual intercourse, gets distracted and disappointed by Indhu's genuine nature. The Climax is reached when Vishnu's mother (Sukumari), Malathi and her father arrive at Vishnu's bungalow. Vishnu manages to make his family believe that Indhu is his illegitimate daughter. But he had to face the dangerous consequences that awaited him. Vishnu's family accepted Indhu as his daughter and took her to the ancestral home. Vishnu is completely bewildered and disappointed as he needs to return Indhu to Murali. Vishnu changes his mind and determines not to give Indhu back to them.
