Vishnu (Mammootty)is a rich businessman, happily married to innocent Seetha (Saritha). Vishnu is a flirt and always interested in having affairs with multiple partners. However, most of his plans did always become unsuccessful. He pretends to love Ragini(Shyama) and assures her to marry her. But his intentions are different. He starts having affair with a young and beautiful Revathi (Lizy Priyadarshan). He also gets infatuated by the newly appointed steno Rose Mary (Urvashi) at his office. But every time, he fails to reach his target. He is so lascivious and a womanizer who even gets attracted to a teenage girl (Suma Jayaram). The situation gets worsened after he joins a team with Thomas Chacko (Thilakan) and Murali. Murali introduces Vishnu to a new girl Indhu (Maathu) who is an orphan. Indu is childlike and innocent and she blindly believes Murali. She went off with Vishnu to his house. Vishnu, eagerly waiting for a sexual intercourse, gets distracted and disappointed by Indhu's genuine nature. The Climax is reached when Vishnu's mother (Sukumari), Malathi and her father arrive at Vishnu's bungalow. Vishnu manages to make his family believe that Indhu is his illegitimate daughter. But he had to face the dangerous consequences that awaited him. Vishnu's family accepted Indhu as his daughter and took her to the ancestral home. Vishnu is completely bewildered and disappointed as he needs to return Indhu to Murali. Vishnu changes his mind and determines not to give Indhu back to them. Ballettan is the story of Athaniparampil Balachandran (Mohanlal) who is known for his service in the society. His father (Nedumudi Venu) is a retired postmaster. He lives with his wife Radhika (Devayani) and two children. Circumstances turn him into a debtor and he is arrested in a cheating case, but he manages to solve all those problems with his father's pension money. One day a stranger (Riyaz khan) comes to meet Balachandran. He introduces himself as Bhadran and asks his help for marrying his sister. Balachandran gets angry and this leads to violence in the house. His father asks him to leave the house. On the next day, while travelling in a bus, his father has a heart attack and is admitted to hospital. Later he calls Balachandran and reveals that he has another family. Balachandran, on hearing this shocking fact, stands shock stricken, unable to accept his father's words while his father suffers another heart attack which leads to his death. On his death bed he asks Balachandran to take care of his second family and also requests that his mother should never come to know about this. The film gets its title from Mammootty's character's role Johnnie Varghese. He has a brother Bobby Varghese who studies in Bangalore degree college for Economics. A visit from his brother and friends changes Johnnie's mind and he joins college despite of his age. From there he clashes with Swamy who rules the college with his drug gang. Because of his love towards his brother Bobby, Johnnie joins to his college as a student and starts living together. Soon he became the hero of the college as well as rival to Saamy and his gang. Bobby falls in love with his classmate Chandini, who was a depressed girl, as she was an adopted child to her parents. Chandini was addicted to drugs by Saamy and was hospitalised. Johnnie suffers from eye sight problems and realizes that he will soon lose his sight completely. Because of this he wants to see Bobbie's marriage and pleads to Chandini's parents for the same. At last they agrees after hearing his story. On the night of the marriage Bobbie is killed by Saamy and his gang. When Johnnie comes to know about his brother's death, he rushes towards Saamy and Didi, the leader of the gang and kills them.
